Hi everyone!
Yes you read right in the title, I baked my own birthday tart. I love baking, I appreciate any help in the kitchen but I’m not getting kicked out! Even if it’s for my own birthday cake! There is nothing better than homemade food. Having a tiny oven and limited space doesn’t change that. If I have the opportunity I will bake!
This is my grandma’s recipe. I love this tart and have been eating it since I was a little girl. So it felt like the right occasion to bake it, celebrating the 20 years I have had in this family ๐ And it’s also one of the easiest recipes I have ever done.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
200 g of flour
60 g of sugar
2 egg yolks
A pinch of salt
40 ml of water
85 g of butter
6 golden apples
Lemon juice
Vanilla sugar
Cinnamon (optional)
Preparation:
Blend the flour and sugar together. Add the egg yolks one at a time. Melt the butter with the water and the salt. Add the liquid to the dry and mix thoroughly. Let the dough rest for 20 min.
In the meantime, peel the apples. Cut half into small cubes and the other half into thin slice. If you wish to use the cinnamon you can blend it with the small apple cubes at this point.
Heat your oven up on 250ยบC.
Once the dough is done resting. Sprinkle flour onto a table, roll the dough flat and then place it into a buttered tart form. Place the small cubes in order to cover the dough. Add lemon juice and vanilla sugar over. Then lay the sliced apples on top to form a nice layer. Finish with some sugar and lemon juice on top for them to grill properly in the oven.
Place in the oven for 30 min, until the apples look golden brown.
Let it cool before you enjoy!
